Israeli settlers stole approximately 90 goats belonging to a Palestinian citizen in the Salhab area of the northern Jordan Valley, in the occupied northern West Bank, during the night of Sunday-Monday, as part of their escalating terrorist attacks.
Moutaz Basharat, the official in charge of the settlement file in Tulkarm and the northern Jordan Valley, stated that "settler gangs stole nearly 90 sheep (goats) last night, belonging to citizen Ali Turki Majid Safwata."
Basharat added in a statement that the theft comes in the context of escalating settler attacks on Palestinians and their property in various areas of the West Bank.
Sharp increase in the frequency of attacks
Earlier on Monday, the Palestinian Resistance Wall and Settlement Authority (a government body) stated that settlers carried out 1,369 attacks during October, an increase of 111.6 percent compared to September, which saw 647 attacks.
The Authority added in its monthly report that the Israeli army and settlers carried out 3,133 attacks in the West Bank during October, an increase of 52.8 percent compared to the previous month, including 1,764 attacks carried out by the army.
Diverse methods of repression and confiscation
According to the report, the attacks varied between shooting and physical assault on Palestinians, damaging property and agricultural lands, burning trees and vehicles, confiscating property, as well as closing roads and preventing citizens from accessing their lands.
Wide casualty toll since 2023
Since the start of the genocide committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip on October 8, 2023, the Israeli army has escalated its operations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, coinciding with the escalation of settler terrorism.
These attacks have resulted in the killing of more than 1,220 Palestinians and the injury of approximately 13,350 others, as well as the arrest of more than 26,000, according to Palestinian data.
