The Rural Damascus Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate of Technical Services and the Qutayfah District Administration, has begun implementing a maintenance and asphalt paving project for the main road in Hala town. This aims to improve road conditions and facilitate residents' movement as part of the governorate's plan to rehabilitate roads and enhance their service efficiency.
Samihi Tuti, head of the committee overseeing asphalt projects in the Qutayfah district, stated that the total area of the road is approximately 15,000 square meters, with a length of about 1,000 meters and an average width of 14 meters. He noted that the project involves laying an asphalt surface and repairing scattered sections using approximately 100 tons of asphalt material, at a total cost of 16,567,500 Syrian pounds.
Tuti added that work began by scraping the deteriorated asphalt layer and cleaning the road of sand and dust, in preparation for laying the new asphalt layer with a thickness of no less than 6 centimeters after compaction and rolling. He clarified that the asphalt laying works are expected to take three to four days, within a total implementation period of 25 days.
Tuti highlighted the service importance of the road as a vital axis connecting Hala town to the towns of Maaloula, Jbeideen, Ein al-Tineh, and Al-Tawani, reaching Qutayfah city and from there to Damascus. The project comes within a broader plan to rehabilitate the road network in the Qutayfah district, including the towns of Maaloula, Jbeideen, Qutayfah, Al-Rahba, and others, aiming to improve infrastructure and raise the level of services provided to citizens.
