The Syria International Security and Safety Exhibition "FORTIX 2026" concluded its activities yesterday, Wednesday, at the Damascus Exhibition City, in a move aimed at enhancing cooperation between government entities and specialized companies, exchanging expertise, and exploring the latest technologies and solutions in the fields of safety and civil protection.
The exhibition, the first of its kind in Syria, brought together government entities, institutions, and leading companies to showcase the latest solutions, technologies, and services related to emergency management, response, and recovery, as well as to enhance institutional readiness. The event kicked off on the 25th of the current month and lasted for four days, organized by Wasem Company for Electronic Solutions and Smart Programming in collaboration with the Ministry of Emergency Affairs and Disaster Management.
In this context, Ibrahim Shanan, Director of the Safety and Civil Protection Administration at the Ministry of Emergency Affairs and Disaster Management, confirmed in a statement to SANA today, Thursday, that the Ministry plans to leverage the experience of this exhibition in the coming days by organizing training for Syrian cadres in cooperation with several global companies participating in the event. This will be achieved through signing memorandums of understanding aimed at developing expertise and raising knowledge levels in the fields of safety and civil protection.
For his part, Shanan clarified that several participating companies offered to provide training and technical services to qualify Syrian cadres, based on their extensive experience and certifications obtained in accordance with international codes and standards, particularly the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and European (EN) standards. He pointed to a trend toward expanding international participation in future editions of the exhibition, noting that participating companies expressed positive impressions about the event and appreciated the level of representation and attendance by specialized companies.
He added that most of the exhibition visitors were specialists and interested parties seeking to learn about Syria's future directions in the field of safety and civil protection, including licensing mechanisms, engineering plan studies, work procedures, and the standards that the government and the Ministry of Emergency Affairs and Disaster Management will adopt to ensure product reliability and approval. Shanan noted that specialized exhibitions serve as a platform bringing together experts, company owners, product manufacturers, and engineering offices, allowing them to learn about the required procedures for conducting their activities within approved frameworks.
He indicated that the exhibition attracted licensed Syrian companies in European and Gulf countries, who wish to learn about the mechanisms for starting their operations in the Syrian market according to established foundations and procedures. He affirmed that these participations represent an opportunity to enhance the exchange of expertise, develop technical knowledge among Syrian cadres, and open avenues for cooperation with global companies, thereby contributing to elevating the safety and civil protection sector and developing its work mechanisms in accordance with internationally accepted standards.
