The President of the Syrian Chambers of Industry Union, Mazen Darouan, held talks with a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Syria, led by Hassan Falaha, to explore ways to enhance the export of Syrian products, support the creation of external channels for their marketing, and develop financing programs for damaged industrial enterprises and support entrepreneurship.
Projects to Finance Entrepreneurship
The Union stated via its Telegram channel on Sunday that Falaha presented during the meeting at the Chambers of Commerce building the Program's activities in Syria, particularly projects related to sustainable development, energy, environment, climate, and governance, noting that work is currently underway on projects to support electricity in Syrian industrial cities.
Falaha clarified that the Program is working on projects to finance entrepreneurship and provide viable loans that contribute to restarting damaged enterprises, alongside preparations to open a specialized export academy aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Syrian producers and supporting their products' access to foreign markets.
Delivering Financing Programs to Beneficiaries
For his part, Darouan expressed his appreciation for the Program's efforts in supporting industrialists, proposing the appointment of a person as a liaison between the Union and the Program, in cooperation with Syrian Chambers of Industry, to contribute to delivering financing programs to beneficiaries more effectively, and affirmed the Union's readiness to participate in the work of the export academy.
The meeting also addressed the results of the private sector conference recently organized by the Program, and preparations for an upcoming conference being planned in partnership with Syrian private sector entities.
The Ministry of Economy and Industry launched the First National Conference for Private Sector Dialogue for 2026 on June 1, 2026, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme and in partnership with the Government of Japan, aiming to enable the private sector to contribute to formulating a shared vision for the future of the Syrian economy, identifying recovery priorities and pathways to build a competitive and sustainable economy based on effective public-private partnership.
