Syrian-French talks to boost trade cooperation and investment opportunities
Damascus Chamber of Commerce president discusses ways to develop trade relations and joint investment with the French ambassador.

The president of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Issam Al-Ghriwati, held talks with the French Chargé d'Affaires in Damascus, Jean-Baptiste Vever, on ways to develop trade relations, enhance communication between companies in the two countries, and explore opportunities for joint cooperation and investment.

The Chamber clarified in a post on its Telegram channel on Wednesday that the meeting discussed investment and company laws, aiming to improve the business environment and enhance its flexibility and transparency, particularly by reducing the time required to establish companies from about three months to one week.

Al-Ghriwati outlined the Chamber's initiatives in the fields of business incubation, support for the Women Entrepreneurs Committee, and digital transformation, pointing out the possibility of benefiting from the Chamber's database to organize direct business meetings, build partnerships between Syrian and French companies, and hold specialized discussions in priority sectors.

Preparations for a Syrian-French economic forum

The two sides discussed preparations for the second Syrian-French Economic Forum, scheduled to be held in Damascus on November 17, and emphasized the importance of enhancing direct communication between company representatives by including bilateral business meetings in its program, organizing specialized sectoral discussions, and utilizing networking periods and the reception to expand networking opportunities and build partnerships.

For his part, the French Chargé d'Affaires clarified that the meeting aims to follow up on economic developments in Syria, understand the actual needs of the private sector, and support the economic transformation process, emphasizing the importance of continuing communication with the Damascus Chamber of Commerce and Syrian companies.

Earlier this month, Sally Shobait, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, discussed with the French Chargé d'Affaires in Damascus, Jean-Baptiste Vever, bilateral relations between Syria and France and ways to develop them, in addition to discussing the agenda for joint political work, emphasizing the importance of coordinating efforts to support stability and provide the necessary facilitations for it.
