Syrian Riders Compete in National Show Jumping Championship in Damascus Countryside
Syrian riders compete in five categories at a national show jumping championship in Damascus countryside ahead of upcoming international competitions.

The national show jumping equestrian championship, hosted by the Central Equestrian Club in Al-Dimas in the Damascus countryside over the past two days, witnessed strong competitions among a distinguished elite of riders across several categories.

The championship, held at the Olympic Stadium, featured five categories spread over two days. The first day was dedicated to the Expert, Children, and Mini Tour categories, while riders competed on the second day in the Small Tour and Medium Tour categories.

In terms of results, riders Anas Al-Jaja and Hamza Al-Kurdi shared the top spot in the Expert category, which was contested in a single round under a system requiring the course to be completed without errors. The Children's category was won by rider Jodi Lemoni, while rider Akram Abu Jaib took first place in the Mini Tour category.

The Children's category competition, set at a height of 80 cm, was held in two phases, where the course was divided into two rounds and the rider's errors in both rounds were combined. The winner was the rider with the fewest errors and the fastest time in the second round. Meanwhile, the Mini Tour category, set at a height of 95 cm, was also contested in two phases, requiring the rider to complete the first phase without errors to proceed to the second phase, with the fastest time being counted.

Rider Muhammad Osama Al-Subaie claimed the top spot in the Small Tour category, which was held at a height of 120 cm in a single speed round. The Medium Tour category, set at a height of 130 cm, was won by Hammam Shahab, after its competition was held in one round plus a jump-off for differentiation.

Zaid Abu Zaid, president of the Equestrian Federation, told SANA that the current championship is part of preparations for the international championship scheduled to be held at the end of November next month, representing an opportunity for riders to raise their skill levels and gain more experience.

For his part, deputy president of the Equestrian Federation Muwaffaq Al-Zoubi stated that this championship has a dual character: it is a championship where points are counted and held within the framework of Federation matches, with results recorded for the rider and the horse.

Several riders pointed out the strength of the competition and the difficulty of the obstacle course, confirming their continuation of intensive training in preparation for upcoming events. This championship comes as part of a series of local championships regularly organized by the Equestrian Federation for all categories, adhering to the required organizational and technical standards for show jumping competitions.
