Tartous Conference Discusses Primary Healthcare Development
The second annual primary healthcare conference launched in Tartous to discuss service development and quality enhancement.

The second annual primary healthcare conference, organized by UOSSM in cooperation with the Ministries of Health and Higher Education and Scientific Research, kicked off today, Wednesday, at the Junada resort in Tartous. The two-day event, under the slogan "Health for All," aims to discuss ways to develop services and enhance their quality.

The head of primary healthcare at the organization, Munther Yazji, explained that the conference presents the results of the development experience, noting that the Hama clinic served as a practical model for improving patient reception and enhancing the role of prevention and early detection. He added that development relies on shifting from responding to complaints to assessing health, social, and psychological needs, highlighting discussions on the employment of artificial intelligence and electronic medical records.

For his part, Zuhair Qaratt, Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Health, emphasized that primary care represents a fundamental pillar in building an integrated health system that ensures efficient and equitable access to services. He clarified that development includes prevention, early detection, and integrating nutrition and mental health services, while strengthening the role of centers as the first gateway to the health system.

Abdul Karim Haddad, Deputy Director of Health in Tartous, pointed to the importance of the conference in exchanging experiences and benefiting from advanced practices, stressing the necessity of cooperation between health and academic institutions. MP Dr. Fatima Haydar emphasized the importance of outcomes in supporting infrastructure and translating them into legislative frameworks, while Dr. Ali Barakat highlighted the role of primary care in alleviating burdens on medical staff and reducing costs.
