Tartous University announced the expansion and updating of equipment for the Graduate Studies Department in Dental Prosthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, increasing its capacity from two dental chairs to eight, thereby enhancing clinical training opportunities for resident doctors and contributing to improving the therapeutic services provided to patients.
University President Dr. Adib Braham emphasized in a statement to SANA correspondent today, Wednesday, that the development of the department represents an important step in improving specialized medical education and providing a better training environment for doctors, which will positively reflect on their scientific and practical competence and the level of therapeutic services provided to citizens.
Braham clarified that increasing the number of dental chairs provides broader opportunities for practical training, reduces congestion, and gives resident doctors more time and clinical experience under the supervision of specialized professors, noting that updating equipment contributes to improving diagnostic and treatment conditions and increasing the capacity to receive patients.
Braham pointed out that the university is working on developing clinic and laboratory equipment, improving clinical training, supporting teaching staff, and developing graduate studies programs according to actual needs and available capabilities, ensuring the elevation of the level of specialized education and qualification.
Regarding the challenges associated with the limited shared spaces between the Faculties of Dentistry and Pharmacy, Braham explained that the university is working to complete an ongoing university construction project that requires support from relevant authorities, enabling the transfer of some faculties to it and reducing congestion in current locations, while simultaneously exploring with Tartous Governorate a temporary location for the Faculty of Pharmacy as an emergency solution.
Braham indicated the possibility of studying the creation of a prefabricated lecture hall above the current shared lecture hall between the two faculties, and utilizing wide courtyards to erect hangars to be used as classrooms, alongside studying the provision of prefabricated classrooms, aiming to provide additional educational spaces and improve the university environment.
Braham affirmed that the university's vision for the upcoming phase is based on providing quality education and a suitable university environment, and qualifying doctors who possess knowledge, skills, and professional responsibility, stressing the importance of concerted efforts between the university, the ministry, and the governorate to support educational institutions and meet the needs of students and teaching staff.
The development works of the Graduate Studies Department in Dental Prosthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry fall within the efforts aimed at enhancing specialized medical education at Tartous University, linking infrastructure development and clinical training to improving health services provided to society.
