Tartous University presented 52 practical projects by its students today, Wednesday, as part of its first exhibition of outstanding practical projects, held in the Tartous Old Hall under the theme "From University Corridors to Serving Society: Innovations That Make a Difference."

The university president, Dr. Adib Muhammad Barhoum, explained to SANA that the exhibition aims to enhance the culture of creativity and innovation among students, and link their scientific achievements with the needs of the local community, by developing solutions for real challenges in fields such as agriculture, alternative energy, food, and the environment.

Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industries

Student Zainab Darir, a fifth-year student at the Faculty of Pharmacy, presented a range of products she prepared as part of the Industrial Pharmacy course. She explained that the course allowed her to gain practical experience in manufacturing products and identifying skin types, and strengthened her ambition to work in this field after graduation.

Darir expressed her hope for providing greater opportunities for graduates to enter the job market and develop their own projects, noting her aspiration to launch a specialized brand in cosmetics.

Engineering and Technological Solutions

Engineer Labana Younes, from the Renewable Energy Department at the Faculty of Technical Engineering, presented a project for a hybrid solar dryer powered by solar energy, designed to suit local conditions and the agricultural nature of Tartous Governorate, with the aim of utilizing renewable energy technologies to serve agricultural activities.

For his part, Engineer Samir Hikmat Al-Douna, from the Industrial Automation Department at the Faculty of Technical Engineering, explained that his project involves designing two autonomous carriers, a "quadcopter" and a "kamikaze," noting the potential to utilize the quadcopter in various civil applications, including agricultural uses, monitoring, and detecting faults in high-tension lines using thermal cameras.

The exhibition comes within the framework of Tartous University's trend towards enhancing the practical aspect of education, linking its outputs with the needs of society and the job market, and opening the door to transforming student innovations into productive projects that contribute to supporting local development.
