Finance Minister chairs meeting to resolve backlogged tax files and adopt electronic payments to enhance transparency.

The Board of Directors of the General Authority for Taxes and Fees, chaired by Finance Minister Mohammad Yasser Barnea, discussed several axes aimed at improving the efficiency of tax work, the most prominent of which are processing old accumulated tax files and the implementation plan to be announced this week.

The Ministry of Finance emphasized via its Telegram channel on Wednesday the importance of attracting new cadres for the tax administration and announced that a competition will soon be held to provide the tax work with competent cadres capable of keeping pace with the tax system reform led by the ministry.

Enhancing Transparency and Curbing Corruption

The council addressed the plan to adopt electronic payment for all taxes and fees and the coordination mechanism with relevant authorities, stressing the importance of this step in terms of raising the efficiency of the financial and tax system, facilitating government transactions, and curbing corruption.

The council also reviewed the qualification and preparation course for income inspectors currently being conducted by the Tax and Fees Authority for some employees in the finance directorates in the governorates, in order to raise the efficiency of human resources and qualify them to complete tax costs accurately and fairly.

The Finance Minister pointed out the importance of completely changing the working style in the tax field and adopting modern, honest, and fair methods that enhance trust, transparency, and achieve justice.
