Tehran denies closing Strait of Hormuz and does not rush Switzerland's meeting with Washington
Iran requires a pre-order to cross the Strait of Hormuz within 60 days

Iran announced on Friday,  June 19, that it is in no hurry to hold a meeting with the United States, after digitally signing a memorandum of understanding between them to end the war.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said: "Since the text of the memorandum of understanding was signed digitally on June 18, there is no rush to hold the said meeting in Switzerland, but we plan to hold a meeting in the coming days."

Baghaei stated that the necessary consultations with Washington are currently being conducted through mediators, and that "the start of the talks will be announced as soon as the necessary conditions are available,"  pointing out that the start of negotiations on the final agreement, according to the text of the memorandum of understanding, is conditional on the start of the implementation of items 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 and ensuring their continued implementation.

Clause 13 of the memorandum of understanding stipulates that after the signing of the memorandum, provided that items 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 begin to be implemented and the implementation of these measures continues, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America will begin negotiations on the final agreement, exclusively with respect to the rest of the items.

Baqaei: Digital signature has abolished the status of urgency

The Iranian spokesman explained that the main objective of the meeting was to sign the text of the memorandum of understanding to end the war, in addition to exchanging views on the arrangements for the negotiations of the final agreement on the sidelines of the signing ceremony,  noting  that due to the completion of the signing of the text of the memorandum of understanding digitally, the holding of the meeting in Switzerland "no longer has the status of urgency."

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman denied US media reports about Iran's call for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to conduct inspections, stressing that there is no program in this regard.

He added that the inspection of nuclear sites that have been subjected to US and Israeli attacks is currently suspended, and that its resumption is contingent on the course of the negotiations and their results, stressing that there is no truth to media reports that spoke of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and that the Iranian armed forces "have taken the necessary measures to ensure the safe passage of commercial ships through the strait, and that navigation is continuing."

In addition, the Iranian Authority for the Management of the Hormuz Waterway in the Gulf announced new procedures for applicants for transit through the Strait of Hormuz, based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and in accordance with the instructions of the competent authorities , stressing that it will process these requests expeditiously, provided that specific controls are adhered to.

The Iranian administration of the Strait of Hormuz, in a statement on Friday, indicated that, during a period of 60 days, no fees will be charged from ships for security, safety and environmental protection services, pointing out that the Iranian government will cover the relevant insurance costs during this period.

The Authority stressed that, due to the special circumstances and the presence of some security risks in the transit route, and to ensure safe traffic and prevent maritime accidents, prior coordination and notification of the transit time of each vessel before moving towards the strait is "essential", holding ship owners fully responsible in case of non-compliance with these rules.
