President Ahmed Al-Shara received, on Saturday, June 27, at the People's Palace in Damascus, His Beatitude Patriarch John X Yazigi, Patriarch of Antioch and the Rest of the Levant for the Greek Orthodox, and the meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Shaibani.
The Presidency of the Republic published the news on its official identifiers without addressing the course of the conversation during the meeting and only published the photos of the reception.
Previous meeting on the national role of the church
President Sharia received Patriarch John X on August 16 last year at the People's Palace in Damascus.
During the meeting, they stressed the national role of the Church in consolidating and strengthening the bonds of citizenship and national unity, in a way that contributes to the preservation of civil peace and laying its foundations on solid foundations of understanding and brotherhood among the people of the same country.
Visit of the Marian Patriarchate
The President visited the Marian Church in the Old City of Damascus on October 26 last year, and met at the Patriarchal House His Beatitude Patriarch John X Yazigi, Patriarch of Antioch and the Rest of the Levant for the Greek Orthodox, and was briefed on the conditions of the members of the Christian community.
The visit reflected the common keenness to consolidate national values and enhance cohesion among the people of the country.
