Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that Turkey has become one of the most important countries in the world over more than a century, enjoying a highly prestigious international status. This was stated in a speech delivered on Friday during the 13th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States held in the capital, Ankara.
Enhancing Economic Status
Tokayev congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people on the anniversary of the Republic, falling on October 29, praising the strong policies pursued by Erdogan. He clarified that these policies contributed to the noticeable development of Turkey's social and economic potentials, making it a regional and global power with a strong standing worldwide.
Challenges and Integration
Tokayev pointed out that the situation in the Middle East, particularly developments in the Strait of Hormuz, negatively affects transportation, logistics links, and trade. He affirmed that Kazakhstan attaches importance to economic integration, noting that the volume of trade between his country and member states reached 10 billion dollars this year, an increase of nearly 40 percent compared to last year.
2040 Strategy and Russia
The Kazakh president stressed the need to adopt the Organization of Turkic States' strategy for the period 2027-2031, which includes enhancing trade, investment, and digital technologies. He also called for steps enabling Russia's accession to the organization as an observer, considering that the organization would benefit from its participation due to the long-standing close relations.
