Tottenham beat Coventry City 3-1 in the seventh round to secure their first win of the season.

Tottenham secured their first Premier League win of the season on Monday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, overturning a deficit to defeat visitors Coventry City 3-1.

Tottenham moved up to 16th place with 6 points, distancing themselves from the bottom of the table, while Coventry City remained on 6 points in 17th place.

Match Goals

James Maddison opened the scoring for the Spurs in the 14th minute, returning to the starting lineup for the first time since May 2025, capitalizing on a pass from Ghanaian Mohamed Kudus.

With the start of the second half, Coventry equalized in the 49th minute through Jack Rudoni, who tapped the ball in from close range, resetting the match.

However, the London response did not take long, as Egyptian Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham's lead in the 58th minute with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, scoring his first goal for the team since joining from Manchester City.

Kolosivsky's Return

The final minutes saw the return of Swede Dejan Kolosivsky to the pitch after an injury absence exceeding 17 months, coming on as a substitute in the 87th minute to great fan applause.

In stoppage time, Ben Davies extended the home side's lead by scoring the third goal in the 90+6th minute, securing a valuable victory that ended a winless streak of six matches.

Tottenham entered the match under significant pressure after failing to win in the first six rounds, with another stumble prolonging their difficult start in the competition.

This victory provided Tottenham with a crucial morale boost at the start of their league campaign, following Coventry's loss after two consecutive wins against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.
