Trade Directorate in Tartus Seizes Non-Compliant Flour
The Trade Directorate in Tartus seized non-compliant flour from a private bakery warehouse in the countryside.

The Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Tartus seized, on Wednesday, a quantity of flour not conforming to Syrian standards, inside a warehouse belonging to a private commercial bakery in the countryside of the governorate. The seized quantity was exported and deposited in official warehouses, with necessary legal measures taken against the violators.

Ibrahim Dagheem, Deputy Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Tartus, stated in an interview with the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that the seizure followed a supervisory round at a private commercial bakery in the countryside of the governorate. Samples of flour were taken and subjected to laboratory analysis, which confirmed their non-compliance with approved standards, despite being intended for bread production.

Dagheem pointed out that the Directorate took the necessary legal measures against the violators, confiscated the seized quantity, and deposited it in official warehouses. He emphasized the continuation of supervisory rounds at bakeries and food establishments to verify compliance with standards and health conditions, ensuring the quality of materials used in bread production and protecting consumer health.

Previously, the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Tartus seized, last Sunday, a quantity of red meat unfit for human consumption in one of the city’s meat shops, and destroyed it according to legal procedures, while organizing a judicial seizure against the owner of the violating shop. The Directorate continues to carry out its supervisory rounds in markets, bakeries, and food establishments in the governorate, aiming to catch supply violations and verify the quality of traded materials and goods and their compliance with approved standards.
