Trump: US forces destroyed a large part of Iran's military capabilities
Trump confirms US forces destroyed much of Iran's military capabilities, citing nuclear threat elimination.

US President Donald Trump affirmed on Sunday that US forces had destroyed a large part of Iran's military capabilities, noting that Washington still has one or two targets to deal with, including a site suspected to be a nuclear facility known as "Mount Axe".

Agence France-Presse quoted Trump as telling reporters at his residence in Florida: "We have eliminated their nuclear capabilities, and we still have one or two sites to deal with, but we can accomplish that within ten minutes," adding that the Mount Axe site is among those that must be targeted, and that dealing with it could happen in a short time.

In response to a question about the possibility of resuming military operations against Iran next week, Trump avoided providing details on the matter, noting that the United States is not in a hurry, after stating: "Our forces have destroyed Iran's naval and air capabilities and air defense systems."

Trump reiterated his insistence on not allowing Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, saying: "Negotiations with Iran to end the war are going well, but as you know, they are not entirely trustworthy." Trump had affirmed on Saturday that the United States would not launch strikes on Iran before the midterm congressional elections, reiterating his belief that the war would end soon, and emphasizing that the priority is ensuring that Tehran does not possess a nuclear weapon.
