US President Donald Trump renewed his statements during an election rally in Montana on Wednesday, affirming that the war with Iran "will end very soon" and that oil prices will drop. This comes as the US midterm congressional elections, scheduled for November 3, approach, according to "The Hill".
For his part, Trump claimed that Iran no longer possesses naval or air forces, and that the majority of its army has been destroyed. He added: "I had to at least keep their leaders, because I don't know who to negotiate with." At the end of the rally, Trump repeated his statement that the war will end very soon, and that Iran "will never possess a nuclear weapon," adding that oil prices "will collapse."
He pointed out that the United States and Israel began a war against Iran on February 28, and Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and US facilities in Arab countries. Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding on June 18 and began negotiations, but they collapsed due to disagreements over navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The war and ongoing tensions have caused energy prices to rise, affecting various sectors and contributing to increased inflation. Gasoline prices in the United States jumped by approximately 9.1 percent during September, contributing to accelerating inflation ahead of the November 3 elections, according to the office.
