The Turkish fixed-wing tactical drone group '脟epni' (脟EPN陌), developed by SolidAERO, has begun executing field missions, setting a precedent for a single air system adaptable to multiple military roles.
Anadolu Agency reported that the first field mission of '脟epni', developed by the Turkish company SolidAERO, focused on operating as an aerial target within the development of a defense system solution.
Rapid Preparation and Flexible Launch
The system is characterized by its ability to be prepared inside a container by a single operator in less than 30 minutes, enabling rapid deployment. It does not require a runway for takeoff; it can be launched using a ramp mounted on the rear of a vehicle or via an air-pressure catapult, known as an aerial catapult.
Multiple Operational Variants
The '脟epni' group comprises three operational variants designed to meet different field needs while maintaining a common underlying structure. The first variant, '脟epni Medium Range', is designed for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and attack missions, with a range of hundreds of kilometers and a useful payload capacity of 15 kilograms.
The second variant, known as '脟epni Target', is used as a reusable aerial target in air defense system training, including radar, missile, and artillery training. Its operational distance exceeds 100 kilometers, with a payload capacity of five kilograms.
Decoy and Deception Capabilities
Thanks to its reinforced structure and ability to land in difficult conditions, the second variant can complete its training mission and quickly prepare for another. It is particularly important for training air defense crews to detect and engage aerial targets, as it can be equipped with special units that simulate the radar signatures of various targets, such as fighter jets, helicopters, and missiles.
The third variant, known as '脟epni Decoy', has been dedicated to camouflage and deception missions on the battlefield. It can be configured to deceive enemy air defense networks and occupy radar capabilities, thereby affecting their ability to distinguish between real targets and decoys.
The '脟epni' family is also characterized by its ability to operate in modern combat environments where communications and electronic systems are subjected to intense jamming.
