Two dead and 19 injured in reciprocal strikes between Russia and Ukraine
Reciprocal strikes between Russia and Ukraine over 24 hours caused two deaths and 19 injuries despite diplomatic moves toward talks in Abu Dhabi.

Reciprocal strikes between Russia and Ukraine continued over the past 24 hours, resulting in two deaths and 19 injuries on both sides, despite recent diplomatic activity that concluded with the announcement of upcoming Russian-Ukrainian-American trilateral talks in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, next month.

Voron region governor Alexander Gussev announced on the Telegram platform that two people were killed and 17 others injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on the city. He noted that more than 70 drones were shot down over the city on Sunday night and Monday morning, stating that most of the injured were passengers on a train damaged by falling drone debris.

Gussev added that the attack caused fires in several companies, industrial facilities, a business center in the city center vicinity, a residential complex, a school playground, and a car park site. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced precise nighttime strikes that destroyed a drone warehouse and the "Zalyutino" power station in Kharkiv, as well as a substation in Khmelnytskyi.

The attacks also targeted loading and unloading docks at the Chornomorsk port in the Odesa region, along with targeting two cargo ships carrying military equipment and supplies for Ukrainian forces. In response, Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform quoted acting head of the Zaporizhzhia military administration, Mykhailo Semikin, announcing that two civilians were injured and homes and facilities were damaged following a Russian military strike on the region that caused a fire at one site.

The Ukrainian Air Force announced that its defenses shot down 112 out of 140 drones, plus three Kh-59/69 guided missiles, during a wide Russian aerial attack targeting vital facilities, infrastructure, and residential areas in 15 locations deep inside Ukraine. These reciprocal attacks come ahead of anticipated talks in Abu Dhabi regarding the Ukrainian settlement, to be held in a trilateral format including Russia, the United States, and Ukraine during the first half of November.

Direct negotiations between Russians and Ukrainians were previously held in 2025, but they did not lead to any resolution of the conflict.
