Treacherous attacks continue to target Syrian army members

Two soldiers of the Syrian Arab Army were martyred on Saturday  , June 20, when they were targeted by unknown assailants in northeast Aleppo.

The Ministry of Defense's  Information and Communication Department said in a statement that the two soldiers were killed after being targeted by unknown assailants near the city of Manbij, northeast of Aleppo.,

This incident comes at a time when some Syrian regions are witnessing sporadic security incidents related to the activity of unknown gunmen since December 8, 2024, while the authorities confirm their continuous and tireless efforts to promote stability and control the situation in various governorates.

Previous Targets in Al-Hasakah Countryside

This treacherous targeting  was reminiscent  of a similar treacherous attack that took place on May 11, when an armed group targeted a military bus carrying a number of soldiers in the countryside of al-Hasakah province.

The Ministry of Defense's Information and Communication Department said at the time that unknown assailants fired heavily on the overnight bus west of Al-Alia silos in the countryside of the province, which directly led to the death of two army soldiers and the wounding of a number of other members who were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Victims of the remnants of war in Daraa

The southern province of Daraa also witnessed another tragic incident last April, which claimed the lives of two soldiers.

An official military source announced that three Syrian Arab Army soldiers were killed and others were wounded as a result of a violent explosion.

The explosion resulted from contact with remnants of war that were dismantled from different places and assembled in a specific location in the Al-Ghazali Complex located on the Damascus-Daraa highway, which resulted in casualties and severe material damage at the site, adding to the series of security challenges that the competent agencies are following.

A Syrian military source pointed out that the efforts to promote stability led by the official authorities are working in parallel tracks, including pursuing armed outposts in addition to clearing the Syrian geography of explosive remnants of war, in order to extend comprehensive security and safety from Aleppo in the north to Daraa in the south.
