Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the targeting of an oil processing and refining facility in Russia's Tyumen region in western Siberia, more than 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, while warning of an imminent and large-scale Russian attack on his country.
In his televised evening speech, Zelensky stressed the success of Ukraine's special operations forces in carrying out this qualitative mission, vowing to continue the medium- and long-range air military campaign to strike at the Russian oil and energy sector with the aim of undermining and cutting off Moscow's financial ability to finance ongoing military operations.
Firepoint drones under test
The Ukrainian president revealed on social media platforms that the recent field attack was carried out by new domestically developed FP suicide drones, thanking the engineers of the "Fire Point" company who succeeded in making these drones capable of reaching vital strategic targets with distances of up to 3,000 kilometers.
In this context, the governor of Russia's Tyumen region, Alexander Mor, said that Russian air defenses successfully repelled the air attack on Siberia without causing material damage at the site, despite the great strategic importance of the targeted refinery, which is one of the largest private-sector oil refining facilities in Russia with a capacity of 151,000 barrels per day.
Russian counter-shelling
Russian forces have launched a wave of violent airstrikes, artillery shelling and sliding bombs on several Ukrainian provinces, resulting in deaths and damage to infrastructure and residential buildings.
Zaporizhzhia regional governor Ivan Fedorov reported on Telegram that five people were killed and 10 others wounded in nine intense Russian sliding bomb attacks.
The regional military authorities in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Kherson announced that three people were killed and about 22 others were wounded, including six children, after local facilities and companies were subjected to heavy shelling by more than 20 drones and heavy artillery shells.
Kremlin vows to continue airstrikes
Russian presidential spokesman (Kremlin) Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian targets will continue non-stop, indicating that these strikes come in response to the massive Ukrainian attacks that caused a fire at the main oil refinery in the capital Moscow.
Local authorities recalled the violent Russian attacks that hit the capital Kyiv and other major cities, earlier killing 10 people and damaging the ancient Pechersk Lavra monastery, which dates back more than 1,000 years and is a major cultural and spiritual symbol of the country.
Russian fuel production declines
Russia's daily production of gasoline has fallen sharply by 20% to 25% compared to the daily average recorded in June 2025, falling to about 90,000 tons per day, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The two sources explained that this sharp decline is directly due to the suspension of work at major refineries in the center of the country due to previous strikes, especially the Moscow and Taniko refineries in Tatarstan, warning that the drop in production foreshadows a severe shortage of fuel within the Russian market, whose domestic consumption volume at the peak of the summer season is at least 110,000 tons per day.
