The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry announced on Monday that Israel is committing crimes against humanity against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including the crime of "genocide," while affirming the continuation of a genocide in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Associated Press, the Commission concluded in its latest report that Israel committed crimes against humanity in the West Bank, including genocide, torture, and rape, as well as persecution, which are crimes based on intersecting discriminatory motives centered on nationality, race, and ethnic affiliation.
In the same context, the Commission pointed to the sharp deterioration in the situation in the West Bank since October 7, 2023, noting that Israel has been launching a comprehensive and systematic attack against civilians since then, through military operations reinforced by continuous violence from settlers.
For his part, Commission Chair Srinivasan Muraleedhar stated in a statement that the deliberate killings and injuries of Palestinian civilians, along with the destruction of homes in the West Bank, coupled with Israel's continuous denial of responsibility, fall within a broader strategy aimed at the genocide, displacement, and imposition of unbearable living conditions on Palestinians.
He added: "At the same time, Israel's expansion of its control over Gaza's lands continues to cause the death and injury of Palestinian civilians who approach or cross the yellow line (which defines the area under Israeli forces' control)".
Previously, on September 4, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights accused the Israeli occupation of displacing more than 33,000 Palestinians from three camps in the West Bank in 2025, noting that this raises concerns about "committing crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing."
The International Court of Justice issued a ruling in January 2024 ordering Israel to prevent any act constituting genocide in Gaza, warning of a "real and imminent risk" of "irreparable harm" to Palestinians.
