The University of Hama launched today, Monday, an awareness campaign titled "Syria Without Drugs," in cooperation with the Drug Control Branch, the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor, and schools of the Arab Women Association. This initiative comes as part of a series of government and civil events in the governorate to raise awareness about the dangers of this scourge.
The campaign includes an awareness program distributed across the university's colleges, starting today at the Colleges of Arts and Humanities, Education, Economics, and Sharia, and continuing tomorrow at the engineering colleges, concluding on Wednesday at the medical colleges. The program aims to highlight the dangers and effects of drugs on individuals and society, particularly among youth.
For his part, University of Hama President Dr. Abdul Karim Qalb al-Louz clarified that the campaign aims to provide advice and guidance to university students, who represent an important and influential segment of society. He urged students to stay away from the scourge of drugs, which scatters their thoughts and destroys their educational and professional future, while emphasizing their role in raising awareness in their surroundings about the danger of these toxins.
The head of the Drug Control Branch in Hama, Issam Al-Hussein, pointed out his presentation of the awareness campaigns launched by the branch across the governorate and his participation in all campaigns implemented by other entities. He stressed that university students are the generation of the future and the cornerstone of building and developing the country, which requires continuous work to address them and raise awareness about the dangers of this scourge and ways to prevent it.
The launch of the event was attended by the Director of the Drug Control Administration at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Khaled Eid, the Public Prosecutor in Hama, Judge Muhammad Al-Nu'man, and a number of college deans, professors, and university students. The Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in Hama Governorate had previously launched a series of community awareness campaigns on September 9, aiming to raise community awareness and consolidate a culture of prevention.
In this context, these parallel efforts between government and civil entities strengthen the role of the family and relevant institutions in curbing the spread of this scourge, reflecting a comprehensive societal commitment to addressing health and social challenges.
