US investigation aims to strip Rep. Ilhan Omar of her citizenship
US probe seeks to build legal case against Ilhan Omar to revoke her citizenship and deport her.

The US "Wall Street Journal" revealed that the investigation conducted by the Donald Trump administration regarding the Democratic representative from Minnesota, Ilhan Omar, aims to build a legal file to strip her of her US citizenship and deport her from the country. Authorities are examining how Omar obtained citizenship after arriving in the United States decades ago, as well as facts related to her father, Nur Omar Mohamed.

In the same context, Muhammad brought his daughter Ilhan and other family members to the United States in 1995 from a refugee camp in Kenya. Authorities are studying multiple aspects of the case, including Omar's immigration record and family records, according to sources familiar with the investigation. Federal agents searched Omar's home in Washington on Monday morning, about three weeks before the midterm elections.

For her part, the US Department of Justice confirmed that the search was "part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation." Investigators seized several items from Omar's home, including her mobile phone, notebooks, personal computers, and her passport, while Omar and her husband were the only two people in the home at the time of the execution. Authorities also issued more than 12 subpoenas to Omar's relatives to testify before a federal grand jury in Minnesota.

For her part, Omar criticized the federal authorities' search of her home, describing the operation as an attempt by the Trump administration to intimidate her political opponents. She said in a post on the US "X" platform: "There is no doubt that this is an attempt to target political opponents and weaponize federal law enforcement agencies against them." She confirmed that she is fine, adding: "I will not be silenced."
