Viola Troupe Presents 'The Guests' at Homs Cultural Palace
Viola Troupe presents a performance exploring the limits of giving and trust at Homs Cultural Palace.

The "Viola" theatrical troupe presented its play "The Guests" on the stage of the Homs Cultural Palace, raising questions through its plot about the limits of giving and its impact on human life and social relationships.

The performance, directed by Ali Al-Naqri based on a text by writer Jwan Jwan, starts from a social story that monitors the repercussions of strangers entering others' lives, along with the exploitation of absolute trust and impulsiveness in giving. It also offers a conceptual approach examining the meanings of welcoming the other, embodying the delicate balance between human openness and safeguarding privacy and rights.

In the same context, the performance relied on a visual and auditory treatment that combined scenography, sound effects, and lighting to embody states of anxiety and tension and keep pace with the development of events. Director Al-Naqri highlighted the importance of balance in giving and trust, noting that the work emphasizes the importance of maintaining values of trust, generosity, and giving, while setting boundaries to protect humans from exploitation.

For her part, the show's supervisor, Suhab Juhjuh, clarified that writer Jwan Jwan's text carries two main messages: the first relates to social life and the importance of simplicity and openness to others, while the second concerns the Palestinian issue through the symbolism of strangers entering and exploiting circumstances. She stressed the importance of giving being based on awareness and setting boundaries that preserve human rights.

For her part, Lilian Al-Khouri, from the audience, said that the play's events gradually succeeded in attracting the attendees' attention and conveying its message in a clear artistic style, praising the effort made by the actors and the production team in presenting a theatrical image that touched upon social reality and its issues.

The cast included Farah Al-Ahmad, Natally Shannour, Muhalim Al-Malouhi, Farah Al-Hasan, Lujain Al-Ali, and Ali Al-Naqri. Muhammad Rida and Sulaiman Buru handled lighting, while Abdullah Al-Yousef and Yamen Al-Issa managed sound tasks. The performance comes within the cultural activities organized by the Homs Directorate of Culture to activate the theatrical movement and enhance theater's presence as a means of artistic expression.
