Washington warns Gulf states of potential attacks on Iran
US warns Gulf states of potential joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran before November midterms.

The United States has warned some Gulf states to prepare for the repercussions of potential attacks that may be launched jointly with Israel against Iran, ahead of the US congressional midterm elections scheduled for November 3. The American "Wall Street Journal" reported that Washington conveyed its warning based on new indicators regarding joint American and Israeli preparations.

The newspaper quoted sources described as "well-informed" as citing indications of these preparations, noting that military and diplomatic communications between Washington and Tel Aviv have strengthened the likelihood of preparing for a new attack. According to the newspaper, the warning focuses on "short but intense" attacks that may be launched after the elections.

It pointed out that US forces in the region are working on storing ammunition and preparing fighter jets, with an additional amphibious assault group and a Marine Corps unit joining approximately 20 warships active in the Middle East next month. In a related context, CNN reported that US forces are ready to launch large-scale attacks against Iran within 96 hours of receiving an order from President Donald Trump.

The United States and Israel had started a war against Iran on February 28 of last year, to which Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and US military facilities in Arab countries. On June 18 of last year, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding, but negotiations later collapsed due to disagreements regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
