Arab League, Egypt, and Kuwait condemn the assault on the 'Al-Mayda' tanker and affirm solidarity with Qatar.

The Arab League, Egypt, and Kuwait condemned the attack targeting the 'Al-Mayda' liquefied natural gas carrier, owned by Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited (Nakilat), in the waters of the Arabian Gulf, while affirming full solidarity with the State of Qatar and supporting the measures it is taking to protect its sovereignty and interests.

Position of the Arab League

The Arab League, in a statement published via the 'X' platform on Sunday, condemned the attack, emphasizing that targeting commercial ships threatens the safety of maritime navigation and ship crews, and is contrary to the rules of international law. The League expressed its solidarity with Qatar and support for efforts to uncover the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible, warning of the repercussions of repeating such attacks on energy supply security and market stability, as well as their environmental risks.

Position of Egypt

For her part, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, affirming in a statement via the 'X' platform its rejection of attacks that constitute a violation of international law and undermine the security and freedom of international navigation. The Ministry stressed Egypt's solidarity with Qatar in the measures taken to protect its sovereignty and interests, and the necessity of maintaining the security of maritime navigation and respecting international law.

Position of Kuwait

For its part, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed its rejection of these acts, warning of their threat to the security of maritime navigation and global energy supplies, and their environmental and economic repercussions on the security and stability of the region. The Ministry stressed the necessity of uncovering the circumstances of the incident and holding those responsible accountable, affirming Kuwait's solidarity with Qatar and its support for the measures taken to protect its security, interests, facilities, and properties.

Earlier today, Nakilat announced that one of its liquefied natural gas carriers was attacked by unknown objects in the Gulf waters on Friday evening.
