The Local Development Directorate in Rif Dimashq Governorate, in the city of Al-Rahiba, launched the "Winter is Warmer" initiative to provide winter clothes to the most needy families, aiming to alleviate their living burdens. The initiative lasts for a week, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., before moving to other areas, including Qatifa and Muassamiyat al-Sham.
Tubarak Tayyara, director of the Local Development Committee in Al-Rahiba, told SANA on Monday that the initiative targets low-income families, prioritizing children and the elderly. She noted that beneficiaries were selected after studying their living conditions and needs.
For her part, Ru'a Zarzur, representative of the supervisory team for the campaign, explained that the clothes were collected from donors' donations, sorted, classified, and cleaned. She added that new clothes account for about 80 percent of the total available clothes, while the team organizes family entry and movement within the campaign to facilitate needs selection and reduce congestion.
Beneficiary Rita al-Sheikh noted that the initiative helped her secure clothes for herself and her children, including new items, which reduced the financial burden of meeting family needs. She expressed hope that the initiative would continue and expand to include more families, contributing to enhanced social solidarity through donations and making them available to the most needy families.
The initiative will continue providing support to targeted families during its specified week, with plans to transfer the activity to neighboring areas to ensure aid reaches broader segments of the local community.
