The Higher Institute for Business Administration (HIBA), in collaboration with Grey Matter Syria, organized a workshop titled "Companies Building Syria" on Tuesday at the institute's building in Damascus. The workshop aims to explore major investment opportunities in Syria and prepare entrepreneurs and business owners to meet the needs of large institutions.

A Pillar for Economic Revival

Dean of the Higher Institute for Business Administration, Marouf Al-Khalaf, clarified that Syrian companies will be a fundamental pillar for the upcoming economic revival by supporting development and creating job opportunities. He pointed out that Syria possesses human resources, scientific competencies, and entrepreneurial energies that require the presence of companies capable of investing, producing, exporting, and transferring knowledge and technology.

Al-Khalaf emphasized that the rise of nations depends on competencies, minds, and institutions capable of turning potentials into achievements, stressing that the private sector represents a key driver of economic growth and leading companies are a fundamental partner in development and reconstruction.

Strengthening University-Private Sector Partnership

For his part, Qais Badran, founder of Grey Matter Syria, emphasized the importance of the workshop in transferring expertise to Syrian youth and preparing a generation capable of participating in building Syria's future. He explained that the company seeks to share the essence of its experiences with large companies through practical methods that help young people develop their projects and enhance their companies' capabilities.

Badran noted that the global economy relies on an integrated system of companies and partnerships, highlighting the importance of integration between universities, government entities, and small and large companies. He pointed out that the workshop offers practical, scientifically studied, and tested models that respect the Syrian environment, rather than importing ready-made models from abroad.

Introducing Available Investment Opportunities

In turn, Amer Kharboutli, Director General of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of the workshop in introducing available investment opportunities and opening the field for entrepreneurs to explore potentials. He explained that the workshop discussed the requirements for qualifying Syrian companies to contract and execute according to international standards, as well as ways to develop their institutional and operational capabilities.

On their part, several participating students pointed out the importance of the topics raised in enhancing their practical knowledge regarding the mechanisms for establishing startups and the requirements for working with large institutions, giving them the opportunity to learn about practical models that can be applied.
