Yemeni Armed Forces Receive Reports of Houthi Use of Toxic Gases in Taiz
Yemeni Armed Forces demand urgent investigation into Houthi militia's use of toxic substances causing civilian injuries in Taiz.

The Yemeni Armed Forces announced receipt of reports indicating that civilians and Popular Resistance members at Taiz fronts suffered from suffocation and fainting due to the Houthi militia's use of shells suspected of containing toxic substances. The Armed Forces called for an urgent investigation to determine the nature of the substances used, their sources, and the parties involved in providing them.

For his part, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Colonel Majid Al-Nazili, stated in a statement via the "X" platform on Friday that these reports come within the context of a continuous escalation practiced by the Houthi militia against the people of Taiz. This escalation includes sniping operations and random shelling of residential neighborhoods, imposing a siege on the city, cutting roads, and preventing the arrival of water, food, and medicine.

The Yemeni Armed Forces pointed out that they had warned the Houthi militia against continuing to target civilians or using any prohibited combat means. They affirmed that protecting citizens and lifting the siege on Taiz is a fixed responsibility of the state and its armed forces, emphasizing that they will take the necessary measures in this regard in accordance with their constitutional obligations and international humanitarian law.

The Armed Forces called on the United Nations and relevant international bodies to bear their responsibilities in confronting the violations, support an urgent investigation into these incidents, and pressure for opening roads and ensuring the unhindered arrival of humanitarian supplies. They stressed that those responsible for attacks against civilians will not escape accountability.

In the same context, Yemen called on the UN Security Council yesterday to condemn the Houthi militia's recent missile attacks on Aden and hold them accountable. It called for taking practical and tangible measures to counter their continuous military escalation and prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
