Yemeni Army Announces Destruction of Two Tanks and Neutralization of Houthi Command Center in Taiz
Yemeni army destroys two tanks and neutralizes a Houthi command center in Taiz, amid escalating conflict and worsening humanitarian crisis.

The spokesperson for the Yemeni Army, Majid al-Nazili, announced on Friday evening the neutralization of a command and control center and the destruction of two tanks at the abandoned Sofitel Hotel in Taiz city, in an operation aimed at protecting civilians. Al-Nazili clarified, in posts on the "X" platform, that the armed forces targeted the command center and the tanks inside the hotel, noting that the Houthi group had used the building as a launching point to target unarmed civilians.

Advances on the Al-Aqroud Front

Earlier on Friday, the Yemeni Army announced that its units carried out raids and counterattacks on Houthi positions, achieving advances on the Al-Aqroud front and thwarting attempts to regroup their forces. The statement indicated that the operations targeted Houthi concentrations, reinforcements, and fortifications, thereby disrupting their supply and maneuvering between axes.

Continuous Battles in the Governorate

Clashes are currently concentrated on the axes of Jabal Han, the old airport, and Ad-Dabab to the west of the city, and Al-Shaqb and Al-Masrak to the south, along with fronts on the coast near Bab al-Mandab and Dhobab. Government forces control the city center, including the districts of Al-Muzaffar, Al-Qahirah, and Salah, as well as parts of the districts of Al-Ta'ziyah, Sabr Al-Mawadim, and Al-Masrak.

Deteriorating Humanitarian Situation

In contrast, the Houthis have made advances in rural and coastal areas of the governorate over the past weeks, including areas in Al-Mukha, Al-Shamaytain, Al-Ma'afir, Jabal Habashi, and Al-Waz'iyyah. With the continuation of fighting, the humanitarian situation in Taiz is worsening, as the cutting of the main road connecting Taiz and Aden isolates the city and increases pressure on its residents, who are suffering from poverty.
