Yemeni Foreign Minister Calls on EU to Halt Houthi Violations
Yemeni FM urges EU to take firm action against Houthi violations in Taiz and address the humanitarian crisis.

Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah al-Zoubi called on the European Union on Thursday to take a firm and effective stance to deter violations by the Houthi militia and mitigate their negative repercussions on Yemen's security, regional stability, and the safety of international navigation. This came during a phone call between al-Zoubi and the EU Ambassador to Yemen, Patrick Simonet, during which the two parties discussed developments in Yemen and the repercussions of Houthi escalation in Taiz Governorate.

The Yemeni minister highlighted the suffering of more than 4 million residents in Taiz due to militia attacks targeting residential neighborhoods, stressing that the tightening siege portends an imminent humanitarian disaster. She explained that the cessation of supplies of food, water, medicine, and fuel, along with the worsening conditions of displaced persons in the southern and western countryside, significantly exacerbates the humanitarian crisis.

For his part, European Ambassador Patrick Simonet affirmed the EU's support for the Yemeni government and its commitment to continuing coordination with international and regional partners to alleviate the humanitarian crisis resulting from Houthi military escalation. Simonet also confirmed mobilizing European support backing efforts aimed at achieving stability in Yemen.

The Yemeni Armed Forces continue their military operations against the Houthi militia on several fronts, as part of the "Dawn of Yemen" operation launched on October 5.
