The Yemeni Cabinet affirmed that the Houthi militia's targeting of the Maashiq Presidential Palace in Aden with missiles and drones on Thursday reveals its inability to confront the Yemenis' will to restore state institutions and end the coup. The Cabinet clarified in a statement relayed by the Saba News Agency that the attack comes in the context of continuous escalation targeting state institutions and civilian facilities, coinciding with the "Yemen Dawn" operation aimed at extending state authority over all Yemeni territories, reaching the capital, Sanaa.
Targeting Cities Threatens Stability
The Cabinet also pointed out that targeting cities and civilian facilities, along with attacks on vital installations in Saudi Arabia and shelling of residential neighborhoods in the provinces of Taiz and Lahij, constitutes a threat to Yemen's security, neighboring countries, and regional stability. The Cabinet called on the international community and the United Nations to take a clear stance against these attacks and to exert pressure to stop the targeting of civilians and civilian facilities, and to hold those responsible accountable.
Continuation of Government Efforts
The Cabinet stressed that the attack will not deter the government from continuing its duties, affirming that Aden will remain the center for state institutions' operations, and that intimidation attempts will not succeed in disrupting public life or undermining its presence. It confirmed the government's continued support for the armed forces and security agencies, and the continuation of political, economic, and humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis.
The targeting of Maashiq Palace coincides with the continuation of military escalation in Yemen, at a time when several fronts are witnessing movements related to the "Yemen Dawn" operation, which aims to restore state institutions and extend their authority over the entire country.
