Yemeni Institution: 107 Women and Children Killed in Taiz
Documentation of 107 civilian deaths and displacement of thousands due to Houthi attacks in Taiz over two weeks.

The Yemeni Women Empowerment Institution documented the killing of 107 women and children, including 23 women and 84 girls and boys, as a result of Houthi militia attacks in Taiz Governorate, during the period from August 1 to the 15th of the current month.

The Yemeni News Agency reported that the institution stated in a report issued today, Tuesday, titled "Mothers' Pain," that "1,321 cases of home raids were recorded, and 4,860 people were displaced, including 1,650 women and 3,210 children, in addition to 221,630 internally displaced persons, mostly women and children, and 32 children subjected to forced recruitment, and 1,056 cases of crimes and violations related to health services, alongside 246,110 children outside educational institutions.

The institution emphasized that the continuation of these violations, and the resulting deaths, displacements, and children deprived of education and healthcare, necessitates taking serious international measures for accountability and justice for victims, and putting an end to impunity.

The institution called for an end to the attacks and the lifting of the siege and restrictions that hinder the movement of civilians and the transport of food, water, medicine, and access to basic services in Taiz, holding the Houthi militia responsible for these violations, and calling for independent and effective investigations and accountability for all those who ordered, carried out, or contributed to these crimes.

It also called on the international community, the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and relevant international mechanisms to bear their legal and moral responsibilities regarding the violations committed against civilians in Taiz.

The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights had previously mentioned in a statement published yesterday that Houthi militia attacks in Taiz city and surrounding areas resulted in the killing and injury of more than 250 civilians, due to shelling of homes and civilian properties, sniping, and targeting ambulances.
