Yemeni Network Documents 75 Houthi Violations in Taiz
Report documents 9 civilians killed, 24 injured, and 11 kidnapped in Taiz over 48 hours.

The Yemeni Network for Human Rights and Liberties documented that the Houthi militia committed 75 crimes and violations in Taiz governorate over the past 48 hours, ranging from shelling, killing, and kidnapping, according to the Yemeni News Agency, citing a report issued today, Wednesday.

The network stated that the violations resulted in the killing of 9 civilians, including 3 children, and injuring 24 others, including 11 children, due to shelling and sniping targeting homes and residential neighborhoods. Additionally, 11 people were kidnapped and disappeared, taken to unknown detention sites; five were taken from their homes and commercial establishments in the Al-Kalaibah area of Al-Maafir directorate, while six other citizens were kidnapped in Al-Hajriyah areas, including elderly and sick individuals.

Destruction of Homes and Arrests

The network's field team recorded that the Houthi militia raided and stormed 11 homes and commercial establishments in Al-Maafir and Al-Hajriyah areas. The shelling caused damage to 13 homes, including 5 completely destroyed, and the destruction of 7 vehicles. The network warned that continuous shelling and the siege exacerbate the suffering of Taiz residents, amid restrictions on civilian movement and hindering the entry of food, medicine, and fuel.

International Demands and Accountability

The network clarified that the shortage of supplies threatens hospitals' ability to continue providing services, coinciding with the admission of victims from shelling and sniping. It called for an immediate halt to shelling and attacks on civilians, lifting restrictions on the movement of people and supplies, revealing the whereabouts of the kidnapped, releasing them, and conducting an independent investigation into the violations and holding those responsible accountable.

It called on the international community, the United Nations, and humanitarian and human rights organizations to take urgent action to protect civilians in Taiz, ensure the delivery of food, medicine, and fuel, and support hospitals and health facilities. It emphasized that the continuation of these violations requires a firm international stance commensurate with their severity, warning that dealing with the Houthi militia must not lead to ignoring civilian suffering or condoning the crimes attributed to them or allowing those responsible to escape accountability.
