The Yemeni Network for Human Rights and Freedoms documented 219 crimes and violations committed by the Houthi militia in the Taiz governorate over the past 48 hours, according to a report published on its website on Thursday. These violations included killings, injuries, abductions, and enforced disappearances, as well as home raids, looting, shelling of residential neighborhoods, and imposing a siege on the city.
The report clarified that shelling resulted in the death of 7 civilians and injuries to 9 others, due to incidents involving landmine explosions and being run over by military vehicles. The militia also raided, searched, and looted more than 130 homes in the areas of Al-Turba, Al-Shamaytan, Al-Hajriya, and Jabal Habashi, and abducted 26 citizens, including children, the elderly, and patients, transferring them to the governorates of Ibb and Dhamar.
The report noted that the militia fired approximately 377 projectiles at Taiz and populated areas, using Katyusha rockets, mortar shells, artillery, and drones, which damaged 29 homes and 18 private vehicles. The Network highlighted the continuation of the siege and the prevention of entry for food, medicine, and petroleum derivatives, warning of the repercussions on the humanitarian situation.
The Network called on the United Nations and international organizations to declare Taiz a disaster-stricken city and expand the humanitarian response to protect civilians. The Network's previous report, on October 9, documented 1,774 cases of landmining and explosions in 17 Yemeni governorates between September 2014 and August 2026.
